Graphic Novel Analysis (exercise)

1) There's a kid with kind-of shrugged shoulders looking towards a sofa with two men sitting on it, one seems impressed whilst the other one seems to be mad or irritated while he sips on his drink.
The kid looks odd, on a submissive stance, the man on the left looks impressed, and the angle of his head suggests that he turned it in a rather fast movement (impression), while the man on the right looks either mad or disappointed of something.
This is when Amir revealed himself after being eavesdropping on his father talking to his friend about him not being able to stand up for himself.

2) There's a close up of an old bearded man with a pipe on his hand looking towards the kid and saying "Amir..., What are you doing here?", at the background you can see the kid whom appears to have just come down the stairs, he looks really sad and powerless.
By seeing the man's face, I'd say he acts as he was impressed that the kid was there, but doesn't really care about it, and the kid looks really down-ish (not in the sense of the syndrome, but a sad state of mind), also i think that he feels powerless about the situation at all and all he wants is to please the man.
This is the reaction of Baba Khan (Amir's father), after seeing him come down the stairs when he was talking to his friend about him.

3) Here we can see the kid in tears (and trying to hold them in) running towards something while in the background, the man that was sitting on the left side of the sofa stands up and says "Amir wait!".
The kid appears to be really sad and also really connected emotionally with the problem, and the man in the background that stood up, looks like he regrets whatever they just did, he also looks to be rushed by the situation and feels obliged to catch him and talk to him, while the man on the right doesn't care about the situation and doesn't want to get involved.
This is when Amir breaks down in tears in front of his father & friend, and the last one decides to stand up and go get him.

4) Here we can see other kid and a man sweeping the floor, while on the background you can see the kid from before exiting the house he was just in.
The kid and the man look impressed as the kid from the background came out of the house in such a rush, while the kid from the background looks either mad or disappointed.
This is when Amir exits the house after the altercation and encounters Hassan and his father sweeping the floor.

5) There is a man and a kid, both with brooms on their hands.
It looks like the man is holding the kid back, the man looks oddly happy whilst the kid looks like he wants to help with whatever's happening, but can't.
This is when Hassan's father holds Hassan back from getting involved into the other family's problem.

6) There is a man and the kid from before, and the man caught up to the kid, the man says: " Amir, wait, you see... you father didn't mean-" at that moment he gets cut off by the kid who says: " i know, its because of my mother...".
There isn't much to say about this, since there are no faces shown in the frame, but you can see this is very rushed and happened really fast.
This is when Baba Khan's friends catches up to Amir and talks to him.

7) Here you can see the man impressed about something while holding the kid's head with his left hand.
The man looks really impressed, as if the kid said something he wouldn't expect in a million years.
This is the reaction of Baba Khan's friend after he heard the words that Amir spoke.

Conclusion: These are emotion and feel packed frames, where we can see the disappointment of Baba Khan in his son, we can also see that Amir feels powerless about this and assimilates the disappointment on that when he was born, his mother died.

Global Warming and our Options to Get Out of it.

This essay mentions advantages and disadvantages of not fighting global warming, and just to live with it; I think that we should cope with the consequences of all these years we didn't care, and spend some time in the research for renewable energy which wouldn't harm the environment and would last for indefinite amounts of time.

I would like to start off by mentioning the advantages or so called 'pros' of living without minding global warming as much as we do now; Firstly, We would save up to the 4 percent of global economy by 2030, which could be invested on renewable energy research and all of its expenses, which might not be the best choice for keeping planet Earth's ecosystems and such, but would be a huge step forward onto a new, easier life for us and all the generations to come.

Secondly; Putting mankind through 'heavy environmental care', would mean we'd have to reduce heat-trapping gasses a 40 to 70 percent by 2050 (Speaking from 2010's numbers), and this would be just to keep global warming under 2ºC!, according to Jeff Myhre past January, 2014. This would be devastating for any industrial research facility and would reduce their production massively and setting mankind back a step from evolution, which is already not happening due to people carelessly littering.

Now, I'm going to refer to the 'pros' of doing exactly the opposite; To actually care intensively or even excessively about the environment. To begin with, I'll name the only good 'pro' available right now, but by far, the one which does best to today's economy. If we went for this way we would create jobs that manufacture energy-saving products, or even products which create energy through resources such as wind or sunlight. which would not only help to fight against the massive problem we've got ahead, but would create enormous amounts of jobs throughout the world, so stated the ACEEE (American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy) in 1998.

Moreover, there are some minor advantages regarding this situation, which wouldn't do massive changes in the world by themselves, but would do considerate changes all together. Such as a healthier lifestyle, to conserve wild and plant-life which form part of a high percentage of the renewable resources we use on our everyday life.

To end this essay, I'm going to state that; No matter how many 'pros' there are; This is an on-going issue, which could be assimilated to a ticking bomb waiting to explode. And when that time runs out, we'll probably face the end of the world. So, to conclude, I think that taking a risky step forward would be better than to take position and wait for the best, as the last two paragraphs describe. And to be completely honest; we do not have neither the time nor the reliability of today's technology to handle such an important task.

Essay Draft Nº1

This essay talks about the advantages and disadvantages of not fighting global warming, and just to live with it; I think that we should cope with the consequences of all these years we didn't care, and spend some time in the research for cleaner and renewable energy which wouldn't harm the environment and would last for indefinite amounts of time.

This article refers to all of the consequences that our world has to be put through because all of the noxious gasses being released onto the atmosphere everyday, and how hard it is to keep them to the lowest, also discussing multiple points of view with a solution for every which one of them. This was really helpful when i was trying to figure out the best solution for global warming.

Fight Global Warming (1998), EcoIQ Magazine (Extract of ACEEE Document).

This article discusses the benefits of global warming, It being not only able to create jobs, but with the same jobs, helping to fight against global warming. It also discusses the other possible alternatives to fight this problem immediately, showing all of their flaws. I think this was very good considering what its actually being done in the world and how many underrated jobs are now going past un-noticed.

The Creepy Mental Facility (Technology Failure)

Mary had been running for 10 minutes now, She was exhausted, and right when she was about to stop, she saw a security booth, (like the tax toll booths)
As she knocked on the door, she saw a man sitting on a chair, looking at a bunch of security cameras, She shouted at the man who wouldn't answer her desesperate knocking;
PLEASE, OPEN UP!!!- She said, with not a single muscle being moved by the guard.
As she stood there for a couple seconds, She felt something touch her ankle, She was desperate to get inside, she HAD to get inside.
She was heavily knocking now, her hand was bleeding and the knuckles looked deformed, She decided to knock the door down, once and for all, she was wearing sneakers, lucky for her, and knocked the door down in the first try.
She got in as fast and she could and resetted the door. putting the desk in front of it so noone would get in. She didn't think that through, because it meant that noone would get out either.
She looked at the man, sitting there;
What the hell is wrong wi-- She exclaimed as she touched the man´s shoulder, but was interrupted by him falling to the ground, and made a shocking realization; The man was dead, and he had his heart pulled right out of him.
She screamed as she picked up the phone, and dialed 9-1-1 as fast as she could. She felt the tone of old dialing phones, but it suddenly, came to an end. Lights started to blink, and the booth started to shake.
She knew she was in trouble when the lights went off, Pitch black.
As the lights came back on, She felt someone breathing behind her.
It was too late now.
